The core barrel is the heart of wireline core drilling. It consists of the inner tube (where core is collected), outer tube, latch assembly, and other components like the landing ring and core lifter case.
When drilling begins, the inner tube remains stationary while the outer tube rotates with the drill rods. This allows undisturbed extraction of cylindrical core samples. Once full, the inner tube is retrieved via the wireline system without pulling out the rods.
YKDrill manufactures double and triple tube core barrels to meet varying geological needs. Triple-tube systems are preferred when core recovery of fractured or soft rock is critical, as they provide extra protection for core integrity.
