Must know! Key factors and applications of pick selection and adaptation
In mining, tunnel excavation and other projects, picks are key cutting components. Whether the selection and adaptation directly affects the equipment's working efficiency, energy consumption and production costs. Scientific selection is an important basis for ensuring smooth operation.
Picks are mainly divided into two types: knife-shaped and pick-shaped. Knife-shaped picks are flaky and suitable for soft and homogeneous coal and rock formations. Pick-shaped picks are shaped like pick heads and have sharp heads. They have outstanding advantages in coal and rock environments with high hardness, complex rock composition, toughness or gangue.
It is crucial to match equipment parameters with picks. Equipment power determines cutting force. High-power equipment must be equipped with picks with sturdy structures and high loads. High-speed equipment requires light picks and good dynamic balance performance to reduce the adverse effects of centrifugal force, and requires high-precision picks. The installation and distribution of picks are even more particular. Different structures have a great influence on the force of picks. For example, when the cutting head is working, the cutting sequence and angle of the picks are complex, requiring good spatial adaptability and anti-eccentricity. Large cutting heads are equipped with large-sized, high-strength picks, and small cutting heads are suitable for small-sized, flexible picks.
Faced with so many tooth shapes and models, it often causes considerable trouble for customers to choose. Yikuang drill has a team of professional engineers. As long as the customer provides the working conditions, Yikuang drill will choose the pick model for you, solving the customer's worries. In practical applications, there are many successful cases of picks of Yikuang drill. In a coal mine, the coal seam has medium hardness (Puerto hardness coefficient f≈6) and contains a small amount of gangue and developed joints. In the early stage, ordinary picks were used, which were severely worn when encountering gangue and had low production efficiency. Later, Yikuang drill's picks suitable for the working conditions were selected. High-strength alloy steel tooth body, high-hardness carbide cutter head and special wear-resistant coating treatment were used. The life of the pick was extended, the equipment failure rate was reduced, and the mining efficiency was greatly improved. In a tunnel project, the rock hardness was high (Puerto hardness coefficient f≈10) and tough, and the picks often had problems at first. The heavy-duty picks designed by Yikuang Drill for high-hardness rocks are selected to strengthen the tooth body, use a specially formulated alloy head, optimize the installation angle and distribution, greatly improve the excavation efficiency, and significantly reduce the excavation cost per meter.
The selection and adaptation of picks requires comprehensive consideration of factors such as the coal and rock characteristics of the operating environment, equipment parameters, and pick material and manufacturing process. Only with scientific selection can the picks perform the best cutting performance in different working conditions, improve equipment efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the smooth progress of the project.
